A Message from Grandma Lead

Hi everyone!

It’s great to connect with you for our first LEAD Action News of 2024 – Grandma Lead Wisdom.

We certainly hit the ground running this year.

I visited Broken Hill (more on that next edition) to meet with Frances Boreland, Aaron Reuben, Semitj Hopcraft, Jenny Rowbotham, Adam Forster, Chris Chindanya and Ghislaine “Gigi” Barbe, and to get a first-hand look at what life is like in the lead-mining town.

We’ve made our LEAD Test Kits free to Indigenous households to ensure that the households in lead-affected towns can be tested and to remove the financial barrier (https://leadsafeworld.com/indigenouskits).

We’ve also been busy writing to government ministers to raise awareness, propose our involvement in educational campaigns, and request funding to help cover our costs.

In this edition of LEAD Action News, we’re bringing a range of articles to you that address very real risks of lead-exposure – from vaping, to lead-contaminated baby foods recalled in the US, chocolate, industrial paints, and so much more! Read on!

I’d love to hear your thoughts, so write back and let me know.
