Ceramic Preparation for Analysis

$32.00

LEAD Group Kits can now be used to test Ceramics for Lead (and cadmium).

The Australian Ceramic Ware Standard sets limits on leachable lead and cadmium from Ceramics and requires Preparation at the lab prior to analysis of ceramicware.

Ceramic Preparation for Analysis

“Ceramic Preparation for Analysis” is an add-on for any of our test kits.

The lab need to prepare the ceramicware for analysis, and the cost for this is $32 per ceramicware.

Steps:

  • Order a Lead Testing Kit (1-Sample2-Sample or 8-Sample)
  • Select the option (within that kit) of the number of ceramic tests you’d like to do
  • If you’d like to test more than what is available on this kit, purchase a kit AND this add-on (you can increase the quantity if you want to test more than one ceramicware)

Note, that each ceramicware counts as 1 sample from your kit (plus this add-on).

If you aren’t sure what to do, please reach out.

Why test ceramic?

Lead (and other metals) can be present and leach from ceramic items.

If you have any concerns, then testing will provide the answer.

For instance, if you have an elevated blood lead level and use ceramics, especially if there are no other obvious or more common sources and pathways of lead exposure, then it is important to test the ceramicware that you use.

We suggest that you also test cadmium levels when testing ceramicware. You can do this with our Extra Metals Analysis.

Lead

It’s important to understand that even low levels of lead are harmful but that most child lead exposure is caused by lead paint or lead contaminated soil, dust or water, not ceramicware that complies with the Australian Ceramicware Standard.

Our lead test kits are the only ones available in Australia for testing a wide variety of sample types at a lab (which charges us a charity rate so you pay less).

You take the samples and send them to Sydney Analytical Labs. The lab analyses the samples, then we’ll explain the results.
